About me |
I am currently a postdoctoral associate at Duke University working with Emily Bernhardt, Jim Heffernan, and Brian McGlynn on the NSF funded StreamPULSE project. For this work I am applying techniques I've learned studying forest phenology to characterize and model the seasonality of ecosystem metabolism in streams.
My research focuses on the interactions between environmental factors and plants with a particular focus on the seasonality of biological processes, i.e. phenology. I primarily focus on the development of models which incorporate meaningful biological mechanisms in order to both improve our ability to make predictions and conduct model driven hypothesis testing. My approach draws upon my background as both a biologist and geographer to incorporate a combination of observed in situ measurements, remote sensing, and high frequency flux measurements to observe and validate the temporal dynamics of modeled processes. |
